Environmental Review
NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants," Supplemental 61, Regarding License Renewal of Perry Nuclear Power Plant, Final Report," was published April 2025. As discussed in the final EIS, the NRC staff’s recommendation is that the adverse environmental impacts of license renewal for Perry Plant are not so great that preserving the option of license renewal for energy-planning decisionmakers would be unreasonable. In other words, from the analysis that the NRC staff performed, there is no environmental reason for energy-planning decisionmakers to prevent the plant from operating for an additional 20 years.

Public Involvement
The public is encouraged to participate in the reactor license renewal process through public meetings, and public comment periods on rules, renewal guidance, and other documents. The Reactor License Renewal Public Involvement page provides general information to help the public participate.
