Safety Evaluation
The NRC staff reviewed the Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application for compliance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants" and prepared a safety evaluation to document its findings. The "Safety Evaluation Related to the License Renewal of Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2" was issued on March 18, 2024.
Environmental Impact Statement
NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2" (NUREG-1437, Supplement 60, Draft Report) was published in October 2023 (88 FR 75629, 88 FR 78068, and 88 FR 77308). This supplement documents the NRC staff's review of the environmental issues at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant (CPNPP) regarding the Vistra Operations Company, LLC application for license renewal of that facility. The supplement was prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71. This supplemental environmental impact statement includes the NRC staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action (license renewal), the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action, and potential mitigative measures for reducing or avoiding adverse impacts. It also includes the NRC staff's preliminary recommendation regarding the proposed action.
