Environmental Impact Statement

NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants," Supplement 6, Regarding Surry Power Station, Units 1 & 2, was published December 2002 and Supplement 7, Regarding North Anna Power Station, Units 1 & 2, was published December 2002.

These supplements document the NRC staff's review of the environmental issues at the Surry and North Anna Power Stations, Units 1 & 2 in support of Virginia Electric and Power Company's application for license renewal of those facilities. The supplements were prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71. These supplemental environmental impact statements include the staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action, the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action, and alternatives available for reducing or avoiding adverse impacts. They also include the staff's recommendation regarding the proposed actions.

Safety Evaluation Report

The NRC staff reviewed the North Anna and Surry license renewal applications for compliance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," and prepared this report to document its findings. The document was first issued in June 2002, as "Safety Evaluation Report with open items related to the License Renewal of North Anna and Surry Power Stations, Units 1 & 2." The report is available in ADAMS under accession number ML021580123.

In December 2002, the report "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of North Anna Power Station, Units 1 and 2, and Surry Power Station, Units 1 and 2 " was issued asNUREG-1766. The report is also available in ADAMS under accession number ML030160853.
