Safety Evaluation Report
The NRC staff reviewed the Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, license renewal application for compliance with the requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 54, "Requirements for Renewal of Operating Licenses for Nuclear Power Plants," and prepared this report to document its preliminary findings. The document was issued on July 31, 2012, as "Safety Evaluation Report with Open Items Related to the License Renewal of Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2."
Subsequently, on January 10, 2013, the document "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Limerick Generating Station" was issued. On August 12, 2014, the staff issued Supplement 1 to "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2."
In September 2014, the staff published the final "Safety Evaluation Report Related to the License Renewal of Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2" as NUREG-2171.
Environmental Impact Statement
NUREG-1437, "Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants Regarding Limerick Generating Station Units 1 and 2 (NUREG-1437, Supplement 49) Final Report," was published in August 2013. This supplement documents the NRC staff's review of the environmental issues at Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2, regarding the Exelon Generation Company, LLC application for license renewal of that facility. The supplement was prepared in accordance with 10 CFR 51.71. This supplemental environmental impact statement includes the NRC staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action (license renewal), the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action, and potential mitigative measures for reducing or avoiding adverse impacts. It also includes the NRC staff's recommendation regarding the proposed action.
Public Involvement
The public is encouraged to participate in the reactor license renewal process through public meetings, and public comment periods on rules, renewal guidance, and other documents. The Reactor License Renewal Public Involvement page provides general information to help the public participate.
