Environmental Review

Environmental Assessment for Subsequent License Renewal of Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 was made publicly available on March 26, 2026. The environmental assessment (EA) and finding of no significant impact documents the NRC staff's review of the environmental impacts of subsequent license renewal for Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear Plant (HNP) Units 1 and 2. The EA documents the NRC staff's analysis that considers and weighs the environmental effects of the proposed action and the environmental impacts of alternatives to the proposed action. It also includes the NRC staff’s recommendation regarding the proposed action: The NRC staff's recommendation is that the adverse environmental impacts of license renewal for HNP are not so great that preserving the option of subsequent license renewal for energy-planning decision-makers would be unreasonable.
