FOIA-2024-000169 Kim, Colleen FTI Consulting I am submitting a request for records within the possession of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (“NRC”) associated with the former Maywood Chemical Company/Stepan Chemical Company facility located in Maywood, New Jersey (the “Site”). The facility may also be referred to in files as “Maywood Chemical Works.” Specifically, I am requesting copies of documents associated with the Site’s Docket number, Docket 40-8610, prior to 1980. After speaking with a librarian at the Public Document Room at the NRC, I learned there are approximately 13 documents dated prior to 1980 associated with Docket 40-8610, which are held by the NRC but are not publicly available on the ADAMS web database. In addition, I am requesting copies of the following Site inspection reports and associated documents: 1. Maywood Chemical Works Inspection conducted on or around May 24, 1957, including the associated “Process Description.” 2. Part 40 Inspection of Maywood Chemical Works conducted on August 30 and September 4, 1963. This inspection report may be associated with the following documents cataloged in the ADAMS web database: a. Accession # 8103260716 (July 26, 1963) b. Accession # 8103260717 (July 26, 1963) Finally, I am also requesting (3) correspondence between Daniel Samela (Stone & Webster, Inc.) and Walter Hill (Stepan Company plant engineer) regarding boiler usage, dated February 2000; and (4) a document or set of documents contained in or associated with the “Stepan Chemical Company Docket Book I.” If delivering all of the documents at once would delay release of the specific inspection reports requested above, responsive documents may be delivered on a rolling basis, with the inspection reports delivered first. 05/24/2024
