Andrea Veil

Ms. Veil joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 1992 as an Intern in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) and progressed to the position of Senior Materials Engineer.  Since that time, she has held a number of positions including; a Congressional Fellowship on Capitol Hill; Chief of the Corrosion and Metallurgy Branch, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research (RES); Chief of the Regulatory Guide Development Branch, RES; Acting Director, Program Management, Policy Development and Analysis Staff, RES; a detail in the Office of Commissioner Merrifield; a rotation as Deputy Director, Division of Systems Analysis, RES; and Acting Deputy Director in the Division of Construction Projects in Region II.  Since joining the Senior Executive Service (SES) in 2011, Ms. Veil has served in a number of senior management positions, including; Associate Director for Human Resources Operations and Policy in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, Deputy Division Director, Division of Construction Inspection and Operational Programs, Office of New Reactors, Acting Assistant for Operations, Office of the Executive Director for Operations, Executive Director, Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, and Deputy Director, RES.

Ms. Veil received a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Northwestern University.  She is a graduate of the NRC's SES Candidate Development Program.
