United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Protecting People and the Environment

Finlay MacLean

Twenty-four years experience in the nuclear sector, beginning in the fuel fabrication sector in the UK, followed by consultancy work in the area of nuclear safety, also in the UK. Then moved to the European Commission in Luxembourg, where I worked for a number of years in the area of international safeguards, focused particularly upon logistical and analytical support to the European Commission's corps of safeguards inspectors. More recently, I follow the area of nuclear export controls within the European Commission, amongst other things representing the European Commission in the Nuclear Suppliers Group. The unit is also responsible for the implementation of the Euratom Nuclear Cooperation agreements with international partners, including the US. I also follow certain issues related to nuclear security, particularly the implementation of the radio-nuclear aspects of the European Union's Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Action Plan.
