Comments
In August 2021, the Commission directed the NRC staff to provide a notation vote paper containing a range of options for the scope of a potential rulemaking. This direction was in response to an October 2019 staff paper that recommended discontinuing the previously-proposed rulemaking, having determined that a rulemaking solely to codify post-9/11 security orders would not improve public health and safety or the common defense and security, and would not be cost justified. This is the second of three public meetings in 2023, each focused on specific aspects of security for nuclear material.
