Purpose
The purpose of this teleconference between Union Electric Company, dba Ameren Missouri (the licensee) and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff, is to provide the NRC with an advance notice of the licensee's intent to submit a license amendment request (LAR) to use a limited number of Framatome GAIA fuel assemblies in unrestricted core locations at the Callaway Plant, Unit No. 1. This LAR is a modification of a previously submitted but withdrawn LAR for supporting the option of a complete fuel transition. This LAR supports the immediate need of licensing GAIA fuel in a limited quantity, beginning in an upcoming operating cycle, but relative to the previous LAR, the content supporting possible long-term transition to batch load quantities of GAIA fuel has been removed.
