Purpose
The purpose of this teleconference with NextEra is to discuss a relief request for Point Beach Nuclear Plant (PBNP), Unit 2. NextEra is requesting U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review and approval of an extension of inspection frequency to 9 years of the primary Steam Generator (SG) nozzle to safe-end welds under American Society of Mechanical Engineers Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Code Case N-770-1. PBNP Unit 2 has completed an updated crack growth evaluation, and is seeking relaxation beyond 7.5 effective full-power years (EFPYs) previously determined to 9 EFPYs.
