National Aeronautics and Space Administration (EAO-RI-2024-0004)

On January 21, 2025, the NRC issued a notice of violation to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (licensee) for a Severity Level III violation. The violation involved the licensee’s failure to secure from unauthorized removal or access licensed materials that were stored in a controlled or unrestricted area, as required by Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) 20.1801. Specifically, the licensee stored licensed materials in a locked laboratory into which unauthorized personnel had keycard access and routinely worked in the room while the materials were unsecured.
