Procedures for Requesting a CRGR Review
The Committee To Review Generic Requirements (CRGR) meets on an as-needed basis. The CRGR will generally issue a meeting agenda before each meeting (with the exception of special meeting held to review urgent items). The agenda will indicate the meeting time and location, as well as the topics to be presented for CRGR review and endorsement. The staff of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is responsible for notifying the CRGR when it is apparent that they will require rescheduling.
The program office staff may submit review requests to the CRGR Chairman at least 2 weeks before the requested review date. However, the staff should adjust the requested time to accommodate for voluminous or highly technical packages. The requests should include all related documents in electronic format. (For additional guidance, see the Content Requirements for Packages Submitted for CRGR Review.) The CRGR will then schedule the requested review after receiving the formal request.
The cognizant staff will be responsible for providing relevant background material In electronic format to the Committee and the CRGR staff, and for distributing presentation materials at the meeting. The review materials and relevant background information for each topic to be considered by the Committee will be placed into ADAMS. The materials must be provided to the CRGR within a sufficient time period to allow for adequate review time by CRGR members. To support the CRGR's record retention requirements, all documents submitted to the CRGR should be declared as official agency records in the NRC's Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). The presenting office is responsible for notifying the CRGR once the reviewed topic has been made publicly available so that the CRGR meeting minutes may also be made available to the public.
