MACCS Consequence Analyses Code: What Is It Good For? Almost Anything!

Consequence analysis is a fundamental tenet of safety regulation. An important part of good regulation is estimating public consequences measures and using this knowledge to inform regulatory decisions. For this reason, computer codes, such as the MACCS consequence analyses code, serve an important regulatory function. MACCS allows the NRC to estimate public consequences measures and provides a powerful tool to inform our regulations and guidance. This exhibit provides an overview of consequence analyses and the MACCS computer code, how the MACCS computer code can be used to perform consequence analyses in regulatory decision making efficiently, and where we will be in the future.
