Reactor Pressure Vessel Embrittlement Monitoring and Prediction in Long-Term Operation

Sponsored by Office Nuclear Reactor Regulation

This digital poster will discuss the NRC’s current reactor pressure vessel embrittlement and surveillance regulatory requirements. It will consider how possible issues with limited surveillance testing at high fluence and inaccurate embrittlement prediction requirements challenge the NRC’s confidence in the integrity of the reactor pressure vessel as it becomes more embrittled during long term operation. In addition, the poster will detail how the staff plans to proactively ensure continued reasonable assurance though a risk-informed, performance-based solution.
