Andrea Kock

Andrea L. Kock serves Deputy Office Director for Engineering, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR).

Ms. Kock joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 1996 as a Radiation Specialist in Region III. Since then, she has served in progressively more responsible positions including, Chief, Performance Assessment Branch, and Chief, Environmental Review Branch, Office of Federal and State Materials and Environmental Management Programs; Commissioner Ostendorff's Technical Assistant for Materials; and Chief, Financial Analysis and International Projects Branch, NRR. In 2014 Ms. Kock was selected for the Senior Executive Service (SES) position of Deputy Director, Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis, Office of New Reactors. In 2016 she was selected for NMSS position of Deputy Director, Division of Decommissioning, Uranium Recovery, and Waste Programs, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS). Since then she has served as the Director, Division of Materials Safety, Security, State, and Tribal Programs, NMSS and most recently as Director, Division of Fuel Management, NMSS.

Prior to joining the NRC, Ms. Kock was a Department of Energy Health Physics Fellow.

Ms. Kock received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Psychology and a Master's Degree in Environmental Health Science with a concentration in Radiological Health from the University of Michigan. She is a graduate of NRC’s Leadership Potential and SES Candidate Development Program.
