Fulfilling the NRC Mission Today and in the Future

Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer
This digital exhibit highlights the future of the NRC. The Nuclear Regulator Apprenticeship Network (NRAN) represents the agency’s commitment to investing in new employee growth and encouraging innovation by leveraging interdisciplinary knowledge. The NRAN program recruits recent graduates with bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degrees and strong academic records to address the agency’s expected skill needs.

In June 2020, the NRC welcomed 23 scientists and engineers as the first cohort of the agency’s 2-year development program. In October 2020, members of the cohort began the first of four apprenticeships in many NRC Headquarters and regional technical offices to expand and enhance their regulatory skills and professional development. By strategically developing the next generation of well-rounded regulators with the NRC’s values and principles of good regulation at their core, the agency ensures that we can fulfill our safety and security mission not only today but also in the future.
