Cynthia Barr

Ms. Barr has been at the NRC for the past 20 years. Most of this time has been spent as a senior risk analyst focused on reviews of performance assessments for low-level waste disposal and HLW tank closures at DOE facilities at Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and Savannah River Site (SRS); as well as reviews of dose modeling for complex decommissioning sites including West Valley. Recently, Ms. Barr has been working on low-level waste and decommissioning guidance, including work on the Multi-Agency Radiation Survey and Site Investigation Manual (or MARSSIM). International activities include work on the IAEA’s Human Intrusion in the context of Disposal RadioActive waste (or HIDRA project) and NEA’s Expert Group on Legacy Management, as well as conducting international training on dose and environmental modeling. Ms. Barr previously worked for Bechtel Savannah River Site as a Senior Engineer performing groundwater modeling and risk assessment for decommissioning. Ms. Barr holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in nuclear Environmental Engineering from Clemson University.
