Alexandra Siwy

Alexandra (Alex) Siwy serves as a Reactor Systems Engineer in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR).  She joined the NRC as a summer intern in 2013 and permanently in 2014 as a Nuclear Safety Professional Development Program participant housed in the former Office of New Reactors.  Ms. Siwy spent six months in a project management role before transitioning to her current role as a technical reviewer of nuclear systems and methods for new reactors, including the APR1400 and NuScale reactor designs.

Ms. Siwy is a co-events chair of the NRC Technical Women’s Network, secretary of NRR’s Advocates for Safety, Collaboration & Communication, and an appointed member of the American Nuclear Society’s Professional Engineering Exam Committee.  She received bachelor's and master's degrees in nuclear engineering and radiological sciences from the University of Michigan and is a licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
