Sponsored by the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response

This session will cover the evolution of the NRC force-on-force inspection program over the years and recent staff initiatives to revise the program; the Light-Water Reactor Sustainability Working Group’s efforts to provide science- and technology-based solutions to the industry in security applications, such as remotely operated weapons systems, adversary timeline calculations, and target set development (calculating time to core damage); lessons gleaned from applying special oversight activities under COVID-19 conditions; applying limited-scope exercises/inspections (Inspection Procedure 92707) and performing remote inspections; and initiatives in the security inspection program to achieve the NRC’s transformational vision of becoming a modern, risk informed regulator, as well as lessons and good practices from licensees and Federal and international partners.
