Kevin Coyne

Dr. Coyne is the Deputy Director for the Division of Rulemaking, Environmental, and Financial Support in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards.   Prior to this assignment, he led the development and maintenance of a variety of NRC risk tools including the Standardized Plant Analysis Risk (SPAR) models and the SAPHIRE code.  Dr. Coyne began his career with NRC in 1994 and has served in various positions within RES, NRR, NRO and Regions II and III.  Prior to joining the NRC, he worked as a Nuclear Shift Test Engineer at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, Virginia. He has a doctoral degree in reliability engineering from the University of Maryland (UMD), master of engineering degrees from UMD and the University of Virginia (UVA), and an undergraduate degree in nuclear engineering from UVA.  Dr. Coyne is a licensed professional engineer.
