Douglas MiIler

Dr. Doug Miller is currently the Lead Technical Advisor for the New Major Facilities Licensing Division at the CNSC.  Dr. Miller graduated with a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Toronto, specializing in electrochemistry and heterogeneous catalysis.

Dr. Miller provides advice regarding the regulation of emerging nuclear reactor technologies, development of CNSC staff competencies, and in implementation of enterprise risk management.   He managed the CNSC staff review of the application for a licence to prepare site, and the associated environmental assessment, for new nuclear project at the Darlington site in Ontario.  In addition, he has managed the reviews of a number of new reactor designs.  Dr. Miller has participated in international fora, including the Multi-national Design Evaluation Program (MDEP), represented Canada in the OECD/NEA Senior Task Group responsible for the preparing the publication on Implementation of Defense in Depth at Nuclear Power Plants Lessons Learnt from the Fukushima Daiichi Accident.
