Christopher Regan

Christopher Regan currently serves as the Deputy Division Director of the Division of Spent Fuel Management, NMSS.  Mr. Regan joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 1991 as a nuclear reactor safety intern in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR).  Since that time he has served in a number of positions, including inspector in Region V, based primarily at the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant; technical reviewer and senior project manager in both NRR and the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards (NMSS); enforcement specialist, Office of Enforcement; and executive technical assistant in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations.  Since 2007, he has also held progressively responsible leadership positions as the Chief, Structural Mechanics and Materials Branch, and Chief, Licensing Branch, in the Division of Spent Fuel Storage and Transportation, NMSS; Chief, Financial Analysis and International Projects Branch, Division of Policy and Rulemaking NRR; and in his current position as Chief, Reactor Inspection Branch, Division of Inspection and Regional Support, NRR.  Mr. Regan completed a rotational assignment as the Acting Deputy Director, Division of Construction Projects, Region II.  Most recently, Chris served as the Deputy Director, Division of Engineering, Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research.

Before joining the NRC, Mr. Regan was employed as a testing director at the Department of Defense, U.S. Combat Systems Test Activity, at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.  Mr. Regan received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Maryland.  He is a graduate of the NRC’s SES Candidate Development Program.
