TH31  Probabilistic Risk Assessment Consensus Standards: Principles, Objectives, and Applications

A panel of experts from the NRC, nuclear industry, and Non-governmental Organizations (NGO) will discuss the current status, principles, objectives, and applications of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)/American Nuclear Society (ANS) PRA consensus standard and the NRC Regulatory Guide 1.200, "An Approach for Determining the Technical Adequacy of Probabilistic Risk Assessment Results for Risk-Informed Activities," which endorses the ASME/ANS PRA standard. The U.S. NRC utilizes the consensus standard process to identify minimum regulatory requirements for PRA Approaches. The new version of the PRA standard is currently being developed and this version is expected to be a major revision that builds up on the experience gained in the last decade of using PRA.
