United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission - Protecting People and the Environment

Bill Williamson II

I obtained a BSNE Mississippi State University Dec. 1978. My first job was with Duke Power in Core Performance Engineering. In 1980 I came to TVA and Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant to become a reactor engineer and qualify as a Shift Technical Advisor. I completed the first in April 1980. I became an interim STA at that time and was fully qualified in 1981.I have worked at Browns Ferry pretty much since then. I was involved in the start up test program of Unit 2 in 1991 after 5 1.2 years shutdown. I was involved with the startup test program on Unit 3 in 1995 after 10 years and I was involved with the startup test program on Unit 1 in 2007 after 22 years shutdown.

In 1983 I became a member of the BWROG Emergency Procedures Committee. I chaired the committee from 1991 to 1997. In 2007 I became the chairman again which position I am currently in.

I was chairman when the Severe Accident Guidelines were developed.

In 2011 I spent two weeks with INPO working with NRC RST. I have been to Tokyo 11 times since then, and other places where BWRs, to provide insights and skill set workshops to help operators and engineers understand how to evaluate conditions beyond design bases. This has been my privilege to do.
