Marta Žiaková is currently the Chairperson of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic and the Chair of the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) Steering Committee.
Ms. Žiaková has got long term experience in the nuclear field area. She had held various positions at the NPP Personnel Training Centre of the VUJE Institute. Among others as head of international section she had been responsible for management of training activities for NPP personnel and project manager of the safety related projects.
She has actively participated in many international activities (IAEA, OECD/NEA, EU). Ms. Žiaková has been a team leader or member in several IAEA expert missions. She represented Slovakia as the Governor of the IAEA Board of Governors (2006, 2013-2015) and as the Chair of the IAEA Board of Governors (2014-2015). In addition to her role as Chair of the NEA Steering Committee Ms. Žiaková is a member of the IAEA International Nuclear Safety Group (INSAG) and member of the Slovak Nuclear Society and Society for Science and Technique.
