Kriss Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy was assigned as the Regional Administrator in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Region IV office, located in Arlington, TX, in June 2016.

Prior to his current position, Mr. Kennedy served as the Deputy Regional Administrator in Region IV, Director of the Division of Reactor Projects in Region IV and the Director of the Division of Reactor Safety in the NRC’s Region II office in Atlanta, Georgia.  Mr. Kennedy joined the NRC in 1988 as a License Examiner in Region IV.  He has held positions in the Division of Reactor Safety and the Division of Reactor Projects as Project and Senior Project Engineer, Resident Inspector at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Station, Senior Resident Inspector at Arkansas Nuclear One, and Branch Chief.  Mr. Kennedy has also completed temporary assignments to the Office of the Executive Director of Operations and the Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.  He was a member of the NRC’s Diagnostic Evaluation Team at Zion Nuclear Power Plant, the Independent Safety Assessment Team at Maine Yankee Atomic Power Company, and participated as a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency Operational Safety Review Team at the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant in the Slovak Republic.  Mr. Kennedy received the Presidential Rank Meritorious Executive Award in 2015.

Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Kennedy served as a nuclear qualified submarine officer in the United States Navy.  He graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1981.
