Cindy Pederson

Ms. Pederson joined the NRC  as a Resident Inspector in Region III, first at the Dresden Resident Office (Morris, IL) and later the Palisades Resident Office (South Haven, MI), where she inspected nuclear plant performance.  Since that time she has held a number of progressively responsible positions including Chief, Technical Support Staff; Chief, Reactor Support Programs Branch; Director, Enforcement and Investigation Coordination Staff; and Deputy Director of the Division of Reactor Safety.  Additionally, she has served as the Director of all three technical divisions – Reactor Safety, Reactor Projects and Nuclear Materials Safety.  Ms. Pederson assumed the position of Deputy Regional Administrator in July 2009.  In August 2013, Ms. Pederson was appointed to the position of Regional Administrator.  As Regional Administrator, Ms. Pederson leads a staff of approximately 225 whose mission is to protect public health and safety by inspecting 23 civilian nuclear power reactors and licensing and inspecting over 1100 materials licensees in eight states in the Midwest.

Ms. Pederson graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering.  She is a recipient of the Presidential Meritorious Rank Award.
