Daniel J. Schultheisz

Dan Schultheisz is Associate Director, Center for Waste Management and Regulations at the US Environmental Protection Agency.

He is a Team Leader for EPA’s efforts to explore alternative disposal options for low-activity radioactive waste and is involved in standards development for spent fuel and high-level waste disposal facilities (i.e., Yucca Mountain and any future standards developed in response to the recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future).   He represents EPA on the OECD/Nuclear Energy Agency’s Radioactive Waste Management Committee (RWMC) and from 2011-2014 represented the U.S. on the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Radioactive Waste Technical Committee (WATEC).

He holds BS and MS degrees in chemical engineering.
