Abdelmajid Mahjoub

Dr. Abdelmajid Mahjoub is the Director General, Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA).

Dr. Mahjoub was educated in Tunisia from primary school to university undergraduate level.  He received a master’s degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, and a PhD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Dr. Mahjoub is currently the Director General of the Arab Atomic Energy Agency (AAEA) based in Tunis for a second four year term (2013-2017).  Before his current position, he served at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in the Department of Technical Cooperation for a period of seven years (2001-2008).  He also held the position of Director General of International Center for Nuclear Sciences and Technologies in Tunisia (1997-2001).  Dr. Mahjoub was a lecturer and researcher at the University of Tunis from 1985 to 1997.

Dr. Mahjoub has served as an expert/consultant for many international organizations, including: UNESCO, FAO, WFP, UNIDO, AOAD Khartoum, CIRAD France, and IAEA.  He produced over 44 scientific and technical publications as the primary or co-author.
