April Lynn Pulvirenti

April Lynn Pulvirenti is a materials engineer in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research, where she is the lead researcher for the degradation of neutron absorbers in spent fuel pools, focusing on material degradation mechanisms and assessing surveillance methods for monitoring degradation.  April earned a doctorate in chemistry from Purdue University in 2000.  She was then a research manager at the Catholic University of America where she studied the effects of natural water composition on the corrosion susceptibility of nickel-based and titanium based alloys.  She joined NRC’s Office of Research in 2010.
