John P. Gaertner

John Gaertner is a Technical Executive in the Plant Technology Division of the Nuclear Sector at the Electric Power Research Institute. Mr. Gaertner is responsible for the Long Term Operations (LTO) Project.

John began his career in nuclear power engineering with Duke Energy in 1975.

He joined EPRI in 1983 as a Project Manager in the area of risk assessment and management. In this role, he advanced the application of risk assessment, reliability engineering, and asset management.

In 1990, John left EPRI to serve as Vice President then Senior Vice President of ERIN Engineering. The company is a provider of engineering services to the nuclear industry.

John returned to EPRI in 1998. He was Program Manager for Equipment Maintenance and Reliability Improvement, Director of Maintenance Optimization for EPRI Solutions, then Program Manager of the Safety Risk and Asset Management Programs before assuming his current responsibilities.

John has a BS Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MS Degree from MIT.
