Petteri Tiippana

Mr. Petteri Tiippana was born in Joensuu, Finland, on 11th July, 1972. He completed his studies of power plant engineering with a Master of Science degree at Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) in 1997. Mr. Tiippana joined the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in May 1996 and had various positions until in September 2009 he was appointed Director of the Nuclear Reactor Regulation Department. Between May 2003 and September 2009 Mr. Tiippana worked as STUK’s Project Manager for Olkiluoto 3 regulatory oversight project. His career history includes active participation in the work of the IAEA and the OECD/NEA. He also participated to the work of European Commission in 2000 and 2001 during European Union’s enlargement negotiations. He is a member of the Committee on Nuclear Regulatory Activities (CNRA) of the OECD/NEA. Mr. Tiippana is the Chairman of the Multinational Design Evaluation Programme‘s (MDEP) EPR Working Group. In 2001-2002 Mr. Tiippana worked as a foreign assignee at the U.S.NRC.
