Michael Markley

Mr. Markley began his NRC career in Region I where he served as a Senior Resident Inspector and Radiation Specialist Inspector. He transferred to NRC Headquarters in 1990 where he held progressively responsible positions as an Operations Engineer in the Performance and Quality Evaluation and Inspection Program Branches of NRR, Senior Staff Engineer for the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, and Senior Regional Coordinator in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations. Mr. Markley served as a Technical Assistant to the Director of NMSS, to the Director of Materials Safety and State Agreements in FSME, and to the Chief of the Materials Safety and Inspection Branch in NMSS. Mr. Markley also served as Acting Chief of Fuel Manufacturing Licensing and Licensing Section of the former Spent Fuel Project Office, both NMSS. Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Markley performed contract engineering, health physics, and emergency preparedness technical support at nine nuclear power reactor sites. He most recently served as a Senior Project Manager in Plant Licensing Branch IV, NRR. Mr. Markley has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Printmaking from Virginia Commonwealth University, an M.S. in Health Physics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Technical Management from Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Arts in Arts Management from George Mason University.
