David Alley
Dr. David Alley currently serves as the Chief of the Materials Safety and Tribal Liaison Branch in the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards. In this role, he oversees the programmatic direction involving the academic and industrial uses of radioactive materials, as well as manages the NRC’s Tribal Liaison Program. Dr. Alley joined the NRC in 2009 and has held a variety of technical and leadership positions related to reactor safety, including the Chief of the Piping and Head Penetration Branch in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. Prior to joining the NRC, Dr. Alley was a career Coast Guard officer and held technical and management positions in the oil refining and water treatment industries. Dr. Alley holds three US Patents as well as academic degrees from the Coast Guard Academy, the University of Michigan,and the University of Connecticut.
