Mehdi Reisi Fard

Dr. Reisi Fard is a Reliability and Risk Analyst in PRA Licensing Branch C in the Division of Risk Assessment at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Dr. Reisi Fard joined the USNRC in 2007 and has since supported variety of activities such as resolution of generic safety issues, review of risk-informed licensing applications, development of guidance for risk-informed decision making, and evaluation of the risk of external hazards. In recent years, he has managed or provided technical lead for activities related to developing and implementing guidance for first-of-a-kind licensing applications including tornado missile risk analyses, seismic probabilistic risk assessments performed in response to the Fukushima Daiichi event, seismic risk evaluations that support risk-informed applications, and review of risk-related aspects of responses to Generic Letter 2004-02 on the potential impact of debris blockage on emergency recirculation.

Dr. Reisi Fard has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and he received a master of science degree and a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from the Ohio State University.
