Travis Tate
Travis Tate is branch chief of the Non-Power Production and Utilization Facilities Oversight Branch, Division of Advanced Reactors and Non-Power Production and Utilization Facilities, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). Prior to this position, he served as branch chief of the Criticality, Shielding and Risk Assessment Branch, Division of Spent Fuel Management, Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards. Travis has also served in various other branch chief positions in licensing, risk assessment and accident dose, and license renewal within NRR.
Travis joined the NRC in January 2001 as a Licensing Project Manager and held positions as Technical Assistant (TA) to the Director of the Division of Component Integrity and TA to the Associate Director for Engineering and Safety Systems, NRR. Prior to joining the NRC, he was employed as a Staff Nuclear Engineer with Science Applications International Corporation in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. In this role, he provided nuclear facility safety analysis, transportation package safety analysis, and nuclear criticality safety analysis support for U.S. Department of Energy facilities in Oak Ridge.
Travis was selected to the NRC’s Leadership Potential Program class of 2009 and received the NRC’s Meritorious Service Award for Equal Employment Opportunity Excellence in 2012. Travis graduated from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering in 1992.
