Patricia Paviet
Dr. Patricia Paviet is the National Technical Director of the Molten Salt Reactor program for the US Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, and the Group Leader of the Radiological Materials Group, at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. The DOE-NE MSR program serves as the hub for efficiently and effectively addressing, in partnerships with other stakeholders, the remaining technology challenges for MSRs to enter the commercial market. Prior to joining PNNL in 2018, she was Director of the Office of Materials and Chemical Technologies at DOE - NE, responsible for the R&D activities related to the back-end of the nuclear fuel cycle which include material recovery and waste-form development, as well as material protection, accountability and control technologies. She is currently the Chair of the Gen IV International Forum - Education and Training Working Group, developing webinar series on Gen IV reactor concepts which are monthly presented and archived (www.gen-4.org). She has more than 25 years of experience on the back end of the fuel cycle and has worked as a professor at ISU and UNLV, manager at Orano (former AREVA Federal Services), scientist and project lead at CEA, KIT, LLNL, LANL, INL, NBL. She obtained her PhD in radiochemistry from the University Paris XI, Orsay, France in 1992.
