Omar Lopez-Santiago

Mr. Omar R. L὚pez-Santiago serves as the Deputy Director for the Division of Construction Oversight. Omar previously served as the Branch Chief for the Vogtle Project Office and as an Executive Technical Assistance. Prior to that, he was the Branch Chief of the Reactor Projects Branch 5 in the Division of Reactor Projects in Region II.

Omar joined the NRC in 2001 and worked as a Fuel Facility and Senior Fuel Facility inspector in the Division of Fuel Facility Inspector (DFFI); as a Senior Reactor Inspector (Fire Protection) in the Division of Reactor Safety (DRS); and as the chief of the Safety Branch and Projects Branch 1 in DFFI. He has also performed rotational assignments as the chief of Engineering Branch 1 and 3, and as the Deputy Director for DRS in Region II.

Omar has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master of Engineering in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland.
