Mohammed Shuaibi

Mr. Shuaibi started his career with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 1992. Since then, he has served in progressively more responsible positions, including reactor systems engineer in the Reactor Systems Branch, Division of Systems Safety and Analysis, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). In 2000, Mr. Shuaibi was assigned as the lead project manager for power uprates in the Division of Licensing Project Management, NRR. In 2004, after rotations in the Office of the Executive Director for Operations, former Commissioner Merrifield's office, and Region III, he joined Chairman Diaz's staff as Special Assistant for Reactors and Research and continued in that role for the startup period of Chairman Klein's office. In 2006, Mr. Shuaibi joined the Office of New Reactors, where he served in several positions, including branch chief in the Division of New Reactor Licensing; Acting Deputy Director, Division of Construction Inspection and Operational Programs; and Deputy Director, Division of Engineering. In 2014, he was selected as Deputy Director, Division of Reactor Safety, Region III. Since then, he also served as Acting Director, Division of Nuclear Materials Safety, Acting Director, Division of Reactor Safety, Deputy Director, Division of Reactor Projects and most recently, Director, Division of Reactor Safety in Region III.

Mr. Shuaibi received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Master of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University. He is a graduate of the NRC's Leadership Potential Program and Senior Executive Service Candidate Development Program and a recipient of the NRC Meritorious Service Award.
