Martin van Staden

Dr. van Staden has a PhD from the University of Johannesburg and has 33 years of experience in the power generation industry of which the past 25 years has been spent in the design of high temperature small modular reactors. He is currently the Vice President for Design Engineering at X-energy and is also the Xe-100 commercial reactor Program Manager. He leads the design team of more than 200 inhouse engineers supported by more than 30 companies who are providing support to complete the design, licensing and commercialization of the Xe-100 plant. X-energy was awarded one of the two DOE Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP) awards totaling $2.4 billion to complete the design, licensing, fuel fabrication facility and a four-reactor demonstration plant.
