Maria Pilar Lucio Carrasco

Pilar Lucio Carrasco was born in Plasencia (Cáceres) in 1972.  She holds a degree in Political Science and Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a Master's Degree in Strategic Consulting of Organizations and Postgraduate Studies in Governance and Public Administration.

She has been a Member of the Spanish Parliament during the last three legislatures, Federal Secretary for Climate Change and Sustainability of the Socialist Party, Spokesperson for Environment, Spokesperson for Energy and Rapporteur at the Congressional Commission on Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection between 2016 and 2019.

She was regional Minister of Equality and Employment between 2007 and 2011 and a member of the Spanish Parliament from 2011 to 2019. She has also been Federal Secretary for Climate Change and Sustainability of the Socialist Party, Spokesperson for the Environment and Spokesperson for Energy and Rapporteur at the Congressional Commission on Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection between 2016 and 2019. The main purpose of her work is to promote dialogue and share knowledge among institutions, public experts, operators, citizens and local stakeholders. It is also to develop the expertise of citizens to give them the capacity to be involved in decision-making processes on nuclear issues. Ms Lucio Carrasco has also been a Tutor Professor at the National Distance Education University and Director of European projects for business, local and human resources development in the region of Extremadura and Director of the European initiative projects Youthstart, Equal I and Equal II.
