Margaret Doane
Margaret Doane was appointed Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Management on 13 October 2021. She oversees the delivery of the Agency's financial, human resources, management, administrative, information technology and general services functions, which enable the IAEA to successfully deliver its scientific and technical programmes.
Prior to joining the IAEA, Ms. Doane worked as Executive Director for Operations at the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the highest-ranking career position in that agency, with responsibilities for overseeing the agency's operational and administrative functions and serving as the chief operating officer.
Ms. Doane began her career at the NRC in 1991 as a Special Legal Assistant and subsequently held positions with progressively higher responsibility at NRC. In 2007 she became director of the NRC's Office of International Programs. In this role, she was the principal liaison between the international regulatory community, the members of the Commission and nuclear policy-making bodies within the United States Government. Between 2012 and 2018, she was NRC's General Counsel. In recognition of her contributions to the NRC, she received the NRC Meritorious Service Award in 2005 and the Presidential Meritorious Service Award in 2018.
Ms. Doane holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and a Juris Doctorate in Law.
