Marcos Rolón Acevedo

Mr. Marcos Rolón Acevedo is a licensed professional engineer with over 15 years of experience. He is a structural engineer in the Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). Mr. Rolón Acevedo currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez, via the NRC's Minority Serving Institutions Program. Before joining the NRC, in his early career as a project manager, he oversaw safety, quality control, scheduling, employee activities, and logistics in construction projects at Structural Steel Works, Inc., Puerto Rico. After his experience as a project manager, he joined the drafting and engineering department of the same company, where he performed various tasks, including structural analyses, connection design calculations, rigging plans, design certifications, and the drafting of fabrication and construction drawings. After joining the NRC as a structural engineer, Mr. Rolón Acevedo has served as a Contracting Officer Representative, Communication Specialist and has held the position of Technical Lead for the drafting and subsequent publication of regulatory guidance, including Regulatory Guide RG 1.243, "Safety-Related Steel Structures and Steel-Plate Composite (SC) Walls for Other than Reactor Vessels and Containments," among others.
