Marco Brugmans

Marco Brugmans is Deputy Chair of the Board of the Authority for Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection (ANVS), the independent regulator in the Netherlands.

Marco Brugmans started at ANVS in 2015. Since then, he has been internationally active both in nuclear safety and in radiation protection. In 2017 he was a member of the General Committee of the 7th Convention on Nuclear Safety organized by IAEA, chairing one of the country groups. He was also Vice President of the International Conference on Effective Nuclear and Radiation Regulatory Systems, organized by the IAEA in collaboration with the European Commission in November 2019, in the Hague, the Netherlands. Currently he is the representative of ENSREG, the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group that advises the European Commission, in the Steering Committee of the EU SMR pre-partnership.

Marco has worked in radiotherapy as well as in radiation protection research. Before joining the ANVS, he has worked for a decade in the field of the prevention of home and leisure accidents.
