Hajimu Yamana

Dr. Yamana completed the doctoral course of the graduate school of engineering, Tohoku University in 1981. From 1981 till 1996, he served as a nuclear chemical engineer for the fuel-cycle and reprocessing development in PNC, which is the previous organization of the current JAEA. From 1996 to 2015, he served as a professor at Kyoto University specializing in the actinide chemistry and education. In 2014, he was invited to NDF to lead the response to Fukushima Daiichi issue, and since 2015, he has served as the president of NDF. Professor Yamana is known as a specialist of actinide chemistry and nuclear fuel-cycle, but now, he is devoting himself to the Fukushima Daiichi decommissioning.
