Dan Dorman

Daniel H. Dorman was appointed the Executive Director for Operations of the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission in October 2021.  This is the highest-ranking career position in the agency, with responsibilities for overseeing the agency's operational and administrative functions and serving as the chief operating officer.

Mr. Dorman joined the NRC in 1991 in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR). He has served in senior management positions in the Offices of Nuclear Regulatory Research; Nuclear Security and Incident Response; Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards; and Nuclear Reactor Regulation. Mr. Dorman also served as Regional Administrator in Region I.

Prior to joining the NRC, Mr. Dorman served as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy's nuclear power program.
