Colin Okada

Dr. Okada is a contractor for the Department of Energy (DOE) National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). He has been at NNSS since 2002. Throughout that time, he has been a member of the NNSA's Nuclear Emergency Support Team (NEST) where his current emphasis is on the characterization and assessment of incidents involving potential widespread contamination by radiological or nuclear material. He was a member of the NNSA team that traveled to Japan to assess the off-site situation immediately following the breakdown at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. He supports the ingestion pathway exercises that are conducted in support of the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program for nuclear power plants in the United States.
