Brooke Poole Clark
Brooke Poole Clark has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Commission, effective spring 2022, succeeding Annette Vietti-Cook. Ms. Clark joined the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 1998 through the Honor Law Graduate program, where she served in several OGC divisions until 2001. Following a break in service as an Associate Attorney with the law firm of Winston & Strawn, LLC, Ms. Clark rejoined the Office of the General Counsel (OGC) in 2004. Since that time, she has served in positions of increasing responsibility across the agency, including in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, and the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer. She also served as Legal Counsel to former Chairmen Diaz and Klein.
Ms. Clark has worked in OGC in a number of capacities, including most recently as Deputy General Counsel for Licensing, Hearings, and Enforcement. Between 2008 and 2018, Ms. Clark served as Director, Office of Commission Appellate Adjudication, where she was responsible for preparing recommendations and adjudicatory opinions for the Commission in support of its quasi-judicial function.
Ms. Clark is a graduate of the NRC's Leadership Potential and Senior Executive Service Candidate Development programs. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley and a Law Degree from the George Washington University Law School.
