Alert

Due to a lapse in appropriations, the NRC has ceased normal operations. However, excepted and exempted activities necessary to maintain critical health and safety functions—as well as essential progress on designated critical activities, including those specified in Executive Order 14300—will continue, consistent with the OMB-Approved NRC Lapse Plan.

Barry Miller

Barry Miller began his career with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) in 2004 in the NRC's Regional Office in Atlanta, Georgia. He served there as a nuclear power plant (NPP) safety inspector and performed a variety of inspections, focusing on material degradation issues. In 2007, Mr. Miller transitioned to the NRC headquarters office in Rockville, Maryland, where he served for eight years in the NRC's Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, working on both rulemaking and licensing issues related to safety of the U.S. domestic fleet of nuclear power plants. During his time in NRR, he also supported implementation of safety enhancements at NPPs based on lessons learned from the 2011 accident at Fukushima-Daiichi in Japan. In 2016, Mr. Miller shifted his career toward international collaboration by joining the NRC's Office of International Programs. He spent four years as a liaison to foreign regulatory bodies to facilitate sharing of regulatory best practices.
